Emily Henke, MPH, Executive Director, Oregon Public Health Institute
Emily Henke is the Executive Director of the Oregon Public Health Institute (OPHI), a nonprofit partner to communities, public agencies, private organizations and other groups working to make the Pacific Northwest a healthy, thriving, and equitable place for all. In 2020, Emily led OPHI into a strategic partnership with PHI and together, the organizations launched Tracing Health. Emily directs Tracing Health in the Pacific Northwest, working with clients, community partners, and staff to continually evolve the program to meet the changing needs of communities and contribute to equitable recovery.
Emily has worked to build health and equity throughout her public health career. Prior to becoming Executive Director, Emily served as OPHI’s Health and Outdoors Initiative Director and Policy Manager, and led equity and engagement efforts for the North Sound Accountable Community of Health in Washington State. Emily’s first public health job was as a bilingual outreach worker in Washington County, Oregon, which (years later) would become Tracing Health’s first county partner.
Emily holds a Master of Public Health from Portland State University and a B.A. from Lewis & Clark College. She is a mother of two young children, an accomplished musician, and has been recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a “40 Under 40” leader.
